This page is intended to show earthquakes within the state of New Mexico located by the NMTSO, and is not guaranteed to be complete or accurate. If you have any questions about this data, please contact the NMTSO.
Lat and Lon: The coordinates of the epicenter of the earthquake in degrees latitude and degrees longitude. The epicenter is the location on the surface directly above the actual rupture point of the earthquake, which is below the surface.
Depth: Depth to the earthquake source in kilometers. Default, unconstrained, value is 5 km.
Magnitude: The magnitude indicates the size of the earthquake. The NMTSO calculates magnitude based on the duration of the event.
RMS: Measure of the final earthquake location fit.
STD: Measure of the solution variation, in kms.
Region/map: Approximate location in New Mexico. Clicking on link will open a Google map centered on the event location. |
